AceShowbiz - It seems that celebrities caught for drinking and driving incident have become a trend in Hollywood nowadays as Mischa Barton joins the list of Hollywood starlets arrested for DUI charges, that includes Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan and Nicole Richie. According to a statement from Sgt. John Hocking, the actress famous for her role as Marissa Cooper in 'The O.C.' was arrested for investigation of driving under the influence of alcohol, driving without a license, as well as possessing a controlled substance and marijuana.
The 21-year-old actress was pulled over around 2:45 A.M. on Thursday, December 27, when she was driving on La Cienega Boulevard in West Hollywood, California. She was stopped by the authorities after they saw her car straddling two lanes of traffic and failing to signal for a turn. According to the statement released by the L.A. County Sheriff's Department, following the pulling over, the sheriff found out that she didn't have driving license at the moment. The statement read, "During Ms. Barton's detention, it was determined that she was an unlicensed driver and was driving while under the influence of an alcoholic beverage."
On the 2007 'Virgin Territory' star's arrest, the L.A. County Sheriff Department's Deputy, Hugo Macias, told OK! Magazine, "Her arrest was completed without incident. She was very cooperative." Furthermore, she spent about seven hours behind the bars of West Hollywood jail before being released on 10,000 dollars bail. Hollyscoop.com reported that she was picked up by her mother using a black Mercedes around 10:05 A.M., and in order to avoid the paparazzi, she laid down in the back of the car. Despite the fact that comments about her arrest weren't being released by neither her manager nor her publicist, Barton was scheduled to appear before the court for a hearing on February 28, 2008.
Last May, the actress, who also appeared in "The Sixth Sense" and "Notting Hill", was hospitalized for two hours after she experienced a bad chemical reaction between an antibiotic she took with alcohol. Over the next weekend, Barton is scheduled to host the New Year's Eve party for the opening of the new Las Vegas restaurant and lounge, CatHouse.
