Justin Timberlake took Favorite Pop/Rock Male Artist in an award that let public vote for the winners the first time in 35 years.

AceShowbiz - One of the biggest music awards events of the year is announcing its winners who are voted by public for the first time in 35 years. Held live from Los Angeles on Sunday, November 18 and hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, is 35th American Music Awards.

The first artist to be up on stage is DAUGHTRY who snagged Favorite Breakthrough Artist, beating Plain White T's and R'n'B singer Robin Thicke. Next up is Rascal Flatts who took the title Favorite Band, Duo or Group for Country Category, beating Brooks & Dunn and Big & Rich.

Few minutes later Akon was announced snagging Favorite Male Artist for R'n'B category. The singer saluted fellow nominee T-Pain for he felt the he deserved the award more than him.

The latest announced winner would be big nominee Justin Timberlake. He took Favorite Pop/Rock Male Artist, presented the award by Taylor Swift.

Performers that night include, Stacy Ferguson aka Fergie, Soulja Boy and Maroon 5.
