British rock act Kate Bush has been tapped to sing an original score for 'The Golden Compass' that will hit the cinema soon.

On the hype of New Line Cinema's production, 'The Golden Compass', New Line Records will release a soundtrack to the highly-anticipated flick, boasting a new material titled 'Lyra' from British singer slash songwriter Kate Bush.

The title 'Lyra' is a reference to the name of the main character, Lyra Belacqua which is played by 13-year-old actress Dakota Blue Richards. The song features a choir from Oxford's Magdalen College.

The original soundtrack album will be released digitally on December 11 along with the song 'Lyra'. The composition are done by Alexandre Desplat who has penned scores for The Painted Veil, Syriana and Casanova.

The movie itself which stars Nicole Kidman and Daniel Craig will hit the cinemas worldwide on December 7. It is an fantasy adventure set in a imaginary world where witches, Gyptians, daemons and talking bears live together. It's the first chapter of the 'His Dark Materials' trilogy, based on the novel by Philip Pullman.
