Lending hands to the stalled project, 20th Century Fox has launched "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty" back into development after it was put into turnaround back in October 2005, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.

The project, a remake of the 1947 Danny Kaye classic, initially was set up at Paramount Pictures banner and had already had Marks Waters to direct and Owen Wilson to star, but sadly put into shelf when the studio was unable to find a proper female lead to play opposite Wilson.

Along with the resurrection, Fox has hired Jay Kogen, known for his writing works for a number of TV series, to pen the film's screenplay while also attaching Mike Myers to star in with Samuel Goldwyn Jr. still seating as the producer.

The original, filmed in Technicolor under the direction of Norman Z. McLeod, was made loosely based on a short story of the same name by James Thurber, which tells about a man whose extremely mundane life is constantly interrupted by the character's escapist fantasies. The name Walter Mitty and the derivative word "Mittyesque" have entered the English language, denoting an ineffectual person who spends more time in heroic daydreams than paying attention to the real world.
