"Spider-Man 3" will be simultaneously released in conventional and IMAX theaters in the States when it hits the surface on May 4, 2007.

AceShowbiz - Receiving the same treatment as its predecessor had before, "Spider-Man 3" delightfully will also have a simultaneous release in conventional and IMAX theaters as it opens in the U.S. on May 4 this year, IMAX Corporation and Sony Pictures Entertainment have announced.

"The simultaneous IMAX release of Spider-Man 3 allows us to celebrate one of the most anticipated motion picture events of the year in an exciting event format," Sony's President of Domestic Distribution Rory Bruer stated. "Spider-Man 3: The IMAX Experience will give fans of Spider-Man an opportunity to experience the next exhilarating installment of the series in an unforgettably unique and immersive way."

Meanwhile, Chairman and President of IMAX Filmed Entertainment Greg Foster openly showed his excitement upon getting a chance one more time to have another installment of the phenomenal series screened in his company's theaters.

"We are delighted to team up with our friends at Columbia Pictures to bring this beloved superhero back to IMAX theatres," so he remarked. "Our 2007 film slate is taking shape earlier than any previous year, and we believe this clearly highlights the increasing value studios see in the IMAX theatre network as it continues to grow worldwide. Spider-Man is ideally suited to the immersive power of The IMAX Experience."

Based on the legendary Marvel Comics series, "Spider-Man 3" continues the story of our titular superhero who this time has to face the battle of his life against two of the most feared villains ever whose unparalleled power and thirst for retribution threaten him and everyone he loves. Famed filmmaker Sam Raimi returns to the director's seat with Avi Arad and Laura Ziskin again serving as producers.
