Still in the glory of his success to nab Oscar's best supporting actor title, Alan Arkin has struck deals to have a starring role in comedy flick "Get Smart", which is being set at Warner Bros. Pictures for a 2008 release.

A big screen adaptation of the 1960s TV show of the same name, pic has already cast a handful of well-known names like Steve Carell, Anne Hathaway, Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson, and Terence Stamp. Here Arkin will play the chief of a secret U.S. Government spy agency called CONTROL where both of Carell and Hathaway's characters work.

"Anger Management" helmer Peter Segal is onboard to direct from script written by Tom Astle and Matt Ember as well as to executive produce alongside Carell, Michael Ewing, Jimmy Miller, and Brent O'Connor. Wynn Thomas is responsible for the production design while Michael Lantieri and Joe Bauer will handle special and visual effects matters, respectively.
