Sony Pictures Classics has obtained the rights to Paul Verhoeven's "Black Book" to distribute it across North America, Australia, New Zealand, and India.

"Black Book" is now kept safely under Sony Pictures Classics. Yes it's true, the company has satisfyingly secured the rights to distribute the WW II drama in North America, Australia, New Zealand, and India regions, reportedly paying a six-figure sum to gain the privilege.
Recently screened at this year's Venice International Film Festival where it won the Cinema Giovanni Award, pic is the latest directorial work of Dutch filmmaker Paul Verhoeven which tells about the Dutch underground set in the early fall of 1944. Produced by San Fu Maltha, Jens Meurer, and Jos van der Linden among others, it features native talents like Carice van Houten, Sebastian Koch, and Thom Hoffman in the cast.
Following the acquisition, the studio's executives have released a statement saying the reasons behind the decision to pick up the movie under their wings, praising the flick to be "brilliantly executed as it is entertaining." In response, producer Maltha also expressed his excitement concerning the acquisition. "Paul and I are extremely pleased that Sony Pictures Classics share our vision for 'Black Book,' and we're certain that they will do a wonderful job for us," so he said through a statement.
