Hollywood movie star Matthew McConaughey has collected $61,600 for US victims of last year's Hurricanes after his 1971 Corvette Stingray sold out on auction website eBay.

On the vehicle, dubbed Mako (like the mako shark), McConaughey said the car had carried him across his home state and down to Mexico many times. He, furthermore, claimed it as "a luxury that I'm willing to relinquish (to) help so many with the necessities in life."

The hunk placed his beloved car up for auction last month, which went on to attract 72 bids before the sale closed July 27th. Proceeds from the auction will be donated to Oprah Winfrey's Angel Network, which helps victims of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, which devastated America's Gulf Coast last August and September.
