Leaving his infant daughter and fiancee Katie Holmes is likely to be a mission impossible for Tom Cruise yet the megastar apparently could not abandon his fans across the continent for he surprisingly showed up in Rome, Italy during a news conference for his new film feature, "Mission: Impossible 3", on Monday, April 24.

"My mission impossible was to be here today," said the striking actor to the reporters. "I didn't want to come. My daughter was just born and I didn't want to leave her and her mother."

Unmistakably delighted all who have hoped for him to come, Cruise in turn received the warmest welcome from the public at Piazza del Popolo when the film's cast members appeared there on a podium to greet them before the premiere of the movie.

Using the occasion to reveal his gratefulness, he then thanked the public for supporting him and his family. "I also want to thank you for the warm welcome that you've given to my daughter Suri and my fiancee Katie, and I just love you all," so he said. "And I hope you enjoy this film because that's why I do it, I make them for you and I really want to entertain you."
