The 54-year-old Joe Perry of the long-running hard rock band Aerosmith has just released his first solo album in more than 20 years, in which he singing on every track and playing every instrument but drums. The self-titled album features a cover of The Doors' song "Crystal Ship" and "Ten Years," which is written for his wife Billie on their 10th anniversary.

Released under Columbia Records, the album has been sold a modest 10,000 copies during its first week, with hardly any promotion or radio play. To further support on his album release, Perry will next play a few live shows, but he won't take too much time off from his day job because Aerosmith will tour in the fall before starting work on a new album.
