Jay Rathbone is a paranormal talk radio host with a strong following. Though he has recently been forced to move in with his sister and her son to make ends meet, he doesn't want for a better life. He is poor but happy. But he enters into an epic struggle between being a nice guy and getting what he wants when it becomes clear that his strange nephew, Doug, will not be able to achieve his dreams without help. He comes to the realization that the only way to help Doug is to quit the job he loves and leave his friends behind for a higher-paying but awful job. Jay is forced decide between his own happiness and being a hero for a young nephew in need.

The girl he's after, his best friend, a father figure, interesting talk radio discussions about aliens, and a pitiful salary rest in one hand. Higher pay, awful teenage employees, a super sloppy boss, cranky customers, twice the pay, and a chance to be a selfless better man rest in the other.
