In suburban New Jersey during the 1960s, a group of restless teenagers find their lives transformed by the raw energy of rock 'n' roll. John Magaro stars as Douglas, a drummer who, along with his friends including the charismatic Jack Huston, forms a band in a desperate bid to escape their mundane surroundings and forge their own identities. Their musical ambitions ignite tensions at home, particularly with Douglas's traditional father, played by James Gandolfini, who cannot understand his son's rebellious dreams. As the band navigates the fickle music scene and internal rivalries, Douglas pursues a complicated romance with a sophisticated girl from his neighborhood, portrayed by Bella Heathcote. This evocative drama from David Chase captures the poignant and often turbulent journey of youth, set against a backdrop of cultural upheaval where the promise of fame and artistic expression collides with the harsh realities of growing up.
