In the outrageous action-comedy The Machine, comedian Bert Kreischer stars as a fictionalized version of himself, whose wild past as a hard-partying college student on a Russian exchange trip comes roaring back to haunt him. Two decades after a drunken, legendary robbery made him a notorious folk hero in Russia, Bert’s life as a suburban family man is violently upended when the vengeful crime lord he wronged, played by Iva Babic, arrives to settle the score. Forced to return to Russia with his disapproving father Albert (Mark Hamill), Bert must navigate a landscape of eccentric mobsters, including the imposing Igor (Martyn Ford), and reconnect with his chaotic younger self (Jimmy Tatro) to survive the consequences of his long-buried misadventures. Directed by Peter Atencio, this high-octane, R-rated romp blends brutal fistfights with absurd humor as Bert struggles to reconcile the man he became with the reckless "machine" he once was.
