When he falls for a gangster's (Josh Lucas) favorite call girl (Julianne Nicholson), William is forced to flee New York. But after four years in exile, William secretly returns, intent on rescuing the woman he loves from her dangerous fate.</p>

The film centers on a solitary figure, drawn to the enigmatic presence of an ancient, sprawling tree whose immense shadow seems to hold a life of its own. This character’s motivation is a deep, almost primal yearning to understand the silent history and whispered secrets contained within the tree’s gnarled bark and shifting shade. As they interact with this natural monument, a central conflict emerges between the desire for connection and the unsettling, uncanny atmosphere the shadowtree projects. Blending elements of magical realism with a contemplative, almost eerie tone, the film explores a silent story of memory, nature, and the thin veil between the ordinary and the profoundly strange, all within the span of a single, captivating breath.</p>
