Witney Carson is an American professional dancer and choreographer best known for her career as a professional dancer on the hit reality competition series Dancing with the Stars, where she has won two coveted Mirrorball Trophies. Born Witney Capri Carson on October 17, 1993, in American Fork, Utah, she was immersed in the world of dance from a very young age, training extensively in styles including ballroom, jazz, and contemporary. Her competitive dance background laid a formidable foundation for her future on national television.
Carson first captured national attention as a contestant on the ninth season of the reality competition series So You Think You Can Dance in 2012. Though she was eliminated in the "Top 10," her vibrant personality and technical skill made a lasting impression. This exposure led directly to her joining Dancing with the Stars as a troupe dancer in March 2013. Her talent was quickly recognized, and she was promoted to a main professional dancer for the show's nineteenth season in 2014, becoming one of the youngest pros in the show's history.
Her debut season as a pro proved historic, as she was partnered with actor and comedian Alfonso Ribeiro. Their dynamic and entertaining routines, most famously a jazz number to "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" theme, captivated audiences and judges alike, leading them to victory and earning Carson her first Mirrorball Trophy. She solidified her status as a fan-favorite professional with subsequent partnerships, ultimately claiming her second win in season thirty-four with wildlife conservationist Robert Irwin. For her innovative choreography on the show, particularly a contemporary routine with celebrity partner Frankie Muniz set to "The Skye Boat Song," Carson earned a Primetime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Choreography in 2018.
Outside of the ballroom, Carson married Carson McAllister in January 2016, and the couple has since welcomed children. She continues to be a central figure on Dancing with the Stars, consistently delivering memorable routines and mentoring her celebrity partners. Her career, spanning from a competitive Utah dancer to an Emmy-nominated television professional, showcases her dedication to her craft and her enduring appeal as a performer and choreographer.
