Formed in 2006 in Los Angeles, California, Metro Station are a pop rock band fronted by Mason Musso. The band were created after Mason met Trace Cyrus for the first time on the set of "Hannah Montana", which stars Mason's brother Mitchel Musso and Trace's sister Miley Cyrus. Sharing the same musical interest, the two then decided to form a band with Mason serving as main singer and rhythm guitarist and Trace as singer and lead guitarist. Shortly after that, Trace asked Blake Healy to join the band as a keyboardist, synthesist, and bassist. Feeling the necessity of having another member, the threesome then recruited percussionist Anthony Improgo, who was later added as the band's drummer.
This band were signed by Columbia/Red Ink Records in late 2006. They then cooked up new materials for their self-titled debut album and dropped the LP in mid September 2007. They listed eleven self-penned songs in the record with the addition of eight bonus tracks including the acoustic version of "Seventeen Forever" and the Lindbergh Palace remix of "Shake It". They experienced success with the impressive chart performance of the effort, which landed atop in Billboard Top Electronic Albums chart and climbed to number 39 in Billboard Hot 200.
Prior to the album's arrival in stores, they released first single entitled "Kelsey" in June 2008. Written by themselves, the song debuted at number 40 and later peaked at number 25 in New Zealand RIANZ Singles chart. Along with the release of "Kelsey", they put out three other tracks; "Control", "Shake It" and "Seventeen Forever". While "Shake It" was outed in August 2008, "Seventeen Forever" was available in the market in December 2008. Serving as the third single from the effort, "Shake It" was featured in a TV spot for film "What Happens in Vegas...". It was also included as one of the soundtracks for movie "The House Bunny". "Seventeen Forever" meanwhile was best known for its music video, which carries carnival-themed video and has Miley, Billy Ray Cyrus and Mitchel making cameos.
