Kristin Key is an American comedian known for her self-deprecating humor, physical comedy, and improvisational style, often incorporating guitar-driven original musical comedy into her performances. She gained national recognition through her appearances on the television series Last Comic Standing and Bring the Funny, showcasing her distinctive comedic voice and versatility as a performer.

Born on September 25, 1980, in Aurora, Missouri, Kristin was raised in a religious household as the daughter of a young Church of Christ minister and his homemaker wife. She grew up alongside an older brother and spent her early years in Liberal, Kansas, before relocating with her family to Amarillo, Texas, at the age of 11. In Amarillo, she completed her middle and high school education and later pursued higher education by majoring in Paramedicine Technology in college.

Kristin’s journey into stand-up comedy began at the age of 19 when she became the house MC for the Amarillo Comedy Club. Initially facing challenges due to her young age, she persisted, performing on open mic nights until the club owners recognized her talent and offered her a regular MC position. Her time at the Amarillo Comedy Club was formative, and she was mentored by co-owner and comedian Kelly Moran until the club closed in January 2006 following Moran’s passing. Seeking broader opportunities, Kristin moved to San Marcos, Texas, to immerse herself in the Austin comedy scene.

Shortly after relocating, Kristin auditioned for the reality competition series Last Comic Standing, earning a spot in the house and ultimately finishing sixth among thousands of contestants. Her success on the show propelled her career forward, leading to appearances on satellite radio platforms such as XM and Sirius, regular spots on the nationally syndicated The Bob & Tom Show, and television performances on Comics Unleashed. She has also been featured on networks including VH-1, Bravo, the TV Guide Channel, and Fox Reality, further establishing her presence in the comedy world.

In 2019, Kristin competed in Bring the Funny, an American reality television comedy competition series, where she advanced to the second round known as the “Comedy Clash,” demonstrating her continued relevance and adaptability in the evolving comedy landscape. Outside of her professional achievements, Kristin survived a serious car accident in 2013, an experience that she has spoken about in relation to her personal resilience.

Currently, Kristin Key resides in Redondo Beach, California, where she continues to develop her comedy career, performing live and engaging with audiences through her unique blend of humor and musical talent.
