Venom (2018) is an upcoming American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name. Produced by Columbia Pictures in association with Marvel and Tencent Pictures, and distributed by Sony Pictures Releasing, it is intended to be the first installment in a new Spider-Man-less shared universe. The film is directed by Ruben Fleischer, written by Scott Rosenberg, Jeff Pinkner, and Kelly Marcel, and stars Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock / Venom, alongside Michelle Williams, Riz Ahmed, Scott Haze, and Reid Scott. In the film, after investigative journalist Eddie Brock acquires the Venom symbiote, he must rely on its powers to stop a madman from wreaking havoc.
