Roma is an upcoming Mexican movie directed, written, and co-produced by Alfonso Cuarón. Set in the early 1970s, the film centers on the life of a live-in domestic worker, played by Yalitza Aparicio, in a middle-class family in Mexico City. The film premiered at the 75th Venice International Film Festival on August 30, 2018, where it won the Golden Lion, becoming the first film by a Mexican director to do so. It was also nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Foreign Language Film, and three BAFTA Awards, including Best Film, Best Orginal Screenplay, and Best Director. The film was released in Mexico on November 21, 2018 and in the United States on December 14, 2018.
