The fifth season of the political drama television series, Scandal, premiered on September 24, 2015, on ABC. The season follows Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington) and her team of gladiators as they continue to navigate the treacherous waters of Washington, D.C. In the wake of the explosive events of the previous season, Olivia and her team are left reeling and must find a way to rebuild their lives and their team. The season features a number of new characters, including Marcus Walker (Cornelius Smith Jr.), a brilliant hacker who joins Olivia's team, and Jake Ballard (Scott Foley), a former CIA operative who has a complicated history with Olivia. The season also sees the return of fan-favorite characters such as Fitz Grant (Tony Goldwyn), Abby Whelan (Darby Stanchfield), and Quinn Perkins (Katie Lowes).
