Joe Gibson, a young talented lawyer working for legal aid, goes missing late at night. A witness reported hearing gunshots and seeing Joe frantically running away from the scene. Evidence emerges that suggests that the disappearance may be linked to some recent strange behaviour on the part of the lawyer and when a family history of schizophrenia is revealed, the team must suspend their usual logic and try to work out exactly what had been happening to the missing man to cause his disappearance. The investigation is complicated when Sophie Holtzmann, the daughter of Joe's boss, also goes missing, thought to have been kidnapped by Joe. It soon emerges that Joe had recently uncovered information related to the disappearance of a young girl two years earlier, and that he may be using Sophie to try to solve the case. The team must mount a massive race against time in order to find and save Joe and Sophie, and solve the old case.
