When we last left Neal and Peter, they were one step closer to solving the mystery of the music box. But the information has come with a price: Mozzie, shot by the mysterious Julian Larssen, lays in the hospital in a medically-induced coma.
With his friend hanging by a thread, Neal wants revenge. But for once, he's ready to do it Peter's way, through the system. Setting a trap for the elusive Larssen, the team tracks him to his apartment, where they find a gun hidden in a potted plant--the same gun, it would seem, that was used to shoot Mozzie. However, the ballistics report tells a different story: Peter planted the gun! Stripped of his authority and put on leave, Peter can only watch as Larssen is released.
Now, with Larssen a free man and Peter powerless to prove his innocence, it looks like the only way to justice may be Neal's way. And with Jones, Sara and even Elizabeth in the loop, Peter quickly realizes he has become the head of a formidable team of con artists: Burke's Seven.
Meanwhile, Mozzie comes out of his coma. He believes that the code inside the music box builds…something. But what? Mozzie isn't sure, but with his notes now in the hands of Larssen's shadowy employer, he fears he may already be one step behind.
