Chris, Reagan and Amy arrive at a portrait studio to take their annual holiday photos. Unfortunately, they arrived two hours late because Amy likes to hide keys now. The photographer isn't thrilled about shooting photos right before the portrait studio closes, but the Brinkleys are able to cram a few terrible family photos in before they get kicked out.

Back at the Brinkley house, Gene and Terry stop by to deliver their holiday newsletter. Gene and Terry have accomplished a lot this year. Meanwhile, the Brinkley holiday newsletter is filled with embellishments because the Brinkleys haven't done much. Chris decides to make one of Reagan's newsletter lies a truth: tomorrow, they'll take Amy to see her first snow.

Meanwhile, Ava meets with her accountant, who tells her that she's quickly running out of money and needs to severely budget her spending for the holidays. The accountant takes Ava's credit cards and orders her not to buy expensive gifts.

The next day, Chris and Reagan are on their way out the door to head to the snow. Ava drops by to pick Reagan's brain for a good holiday gift, but the Brinkleys don't have time today. They quickly dismiss Ava and head out to create a holiday memory for the newsletter.

Ava tells Scott about the amazing gift she's made for Reagan. It's a mix CD featuring a collection of inappropriate R&B songs. Scott doesn't think the gift will go over well, so Ava heads back to the drawing board.

On their trek to the snow, Chris and Reagan pull to the side of the road so that they can go to the bathroom. Unfortunately, a sheriff pulls over and catches them in the act. The sheriff gives them a ticket for public urination and tells them that they'll need snow chains if they're planning to see the snow.

Scott shows Ava what he's giving Chris and Reagan for Christmas: it's a photo of Chris and Reagan the night they met, set in a frame made from the bench where they shared their first kiss. Ava realizes that her gift sucks, and she'll have to think of something better.

Chris and Reagan stop at a store to buy snow chains, but the store is all sold out. The cashier tells them she has a pair they can use, but Chris will have to pay for them with a kiss. Reagan hides behind a store display, giggling while Chris lays one on the creepy cashier. At least they got the snow chains.

When they're finally on the road again, Chris and Reagan quickly run into a detour. Nonetheless, they're determined to make it to the snow. Reagan has trouble getting a signal on her phone, and they're not exactly sure where they're going anymore. Before they know it, they arrive in a desert. They took a wrong turn somewhere, and now there's nothing left to do but laugh about it.

Ava is still struggling to find the perfect gift for the Brinkleys. Reagan calls Ava to tell her that the trip was a bust, and they're heading home. Suddenly, Ava has a flash of inspiration. She knows exactly what to get them for Christmas!

Chris and Reagan arrive home to find Ava standing in the living room. She escorts them to the backyard, where she has rented a snow machine to give Amy her first snow. Reagan asks Ava what happened to her budget restrictions, and Ava says not to worry about it because she's confident that the future is bright for her.

Chris and Reagan have decided not to make a holiday newsletter this year. Then Scott shows them a photo he took on his phone while they were playing with Amy in the snow. It's an amazing photo, and Chris and Reagan both agree that they'll need to circulate this picture to everyone they know.
