Amelia's back in Aster Corps' hands. She tries to escape, but Tony Rigby, Calvin Norburg's former business partner, quickly catches her. He and his thugs return her to the run-down desert facility where they're keeping her - a complex that was part of the once respected Teller Institute.

Rigby shoves Amelia at Kase, who has betrayed Calvin for money. She retreats inside her mind to the sunny pond and calls out to Jake: Please, save me!

Outside an L.A. hospital, Trevor informs Martin that the police are investigating Guillermo's attack on BreakWire, and his staffer Phil told them way more than Martin would have liked. Lucy emerges, and Jake writes "0175" in the condensation on her car window. Driving home, Martin notices a delivery van with the same numbers and follows it . . . to Rigby's house. Martin and Lucy see Calvin outside and ambush him. He explains that Rigby killed his mother and took Amelia, but he can't find him.

At Calvin's loft, the adults try to pinpoint which remote Aster Corps facility Amelia might be in. Jake finds Calvin's computer room and plugs himself in. The speech centers of Jake's brain begin to activate: He's talking with Amelia!

Jake approaches Amelia at her pond. "I found you," he says, and asks where they are. She explains that there was always a locked door in her mind, until one day while working with Calvin, it just opened. Now she can come to this place anytime. She tells Jake about where she's being held, and he returns to reality.

Calvin helps determine the facility's location. It will be hard to approach without being seen. But he's not coming; he has to tend to his brain-damaged brother, William.

At the Greyber Institute, Calvin uses the data from Jake's experience to update an implant in William's brain. Aided by Evie, a smart teenage volunteer, he reroutes a neural pathway around the damage. Amazingly, it works, and William can speak and move again. A tearful Calvin has a heartfelt chat with his brother. But a few hours later, William regresses.

After Lucy's car overheats, Martin pays a passing trucker (who happens to be Evie's dad) to drop them near the complex. He creates a ruse to get inside, but Rigby's head thug locks him up. Lucy and Jake find another way in, and Jake drops the keys to all but one Aster Corps vehicle down a grate, leaving the remaining set where Martin will see it.

With Kase's reluctant assistance, Martin rescues Amelia. Later, Rigby reports to his ruthless boss, Mrs. Farrington, who says she's sending someone named Tanner.

Lucy and Amelia have a tearful reunion, and the gang returns to her car. Martin urges Lucy to disappear before Aster Corps can find her. She agrees, and they kiss. Jake gives Amelia the red toy car he found at the New York facility, Amelia gives Jake a note for his dad, and they part.

When Rigby's thugs appear far down the deserted road, Amelia tearfully says there's no path they can take to escape. Lucy asks if there's a way Amelia can escape, but not her, and the girl reluctantly says yes. Lucy orders her to run, and faces the thugs alone. As Amelia climbs some rocks, she hears a gunshot, and her mother disappears from view.
