DEADLY 'BLOOD' DIAMONDS LINKED TO MURDERS -- When a banker and a jeweler are murdered, Detectives Briscoe (Jerry Orbach) and Green (Jesse L. Martin) discover that the two had conspired to steal millions of dollars in diamonds from the Girard family, which controls the world diamond market. But Henri Girard (guest star Michael Hayden) is reluctant to associate himself with the stolen gems, as they were 'blood' diamonds linked to war-torn Sierra Leone, having been used to fund the civil strife there. As Executive A.D.A. Jack McCoy (Sam Waterston) and A.D.A. Serena Southerlyn (Elisabeth Rohm) research the ownership and history of the diamonds, the two find that the struggle in Sierra Leone has hit their shores with a vengeance.
