McGarrett and Danny go for a nice, relaxing fishing trip on the open seas, but it is interrupted when McGarrett spots another man in distress on a life raft. They drive over to him to help him out, but the man pulls a gun on them and hijacks their boat, leaving them stranded with a deflating life raft in the middle of the ocean. Left with few options, McGarrett hastily repairs the leaks and then begins to tug the life raft toward shore, while Danny bails water and keeps a lookout for sharks. They eventually come upon another boat with a dead engine and a dead body onboard, leading them to theorize that their hijacker was actually a murderer as well. Meanwhile, on land, Catherine gets worried when she can't reach McGarrett over three hours after he said they'd be back. She gets in touch with Kono and Chin Ho, who use the GPS on the boat they borrowed to locate it on the North Shore. When they get to the boat, they find the hijacker's bloody shirt, along with McGarrett and Danny's guns and badges. Luckily, Danny and McGarrett get picked up by the Coast Guard and returned to shore, where they reunite with the rest of Five-0 to solve the case. They follow the DNA evidence to the home of Al Burgess, the victim on the boat, and eventually learn that Al's wife Claire hired a former security guard to kill her husband. She was having an affair with the security guard and wanted to ensure that she'd keep her husband's money before he could divorce her.
