The wolfsangel is still burning at the start of the episode but Hank quickly puts it out with a hose while Nick pulls Juliette aside to make sure she's really okay with him becoming a Grimm again. Juliette promises if that's what Nick wants, then it's what she wants too, reminding us why they make such a great couple.

Inside, Monroe fumes while Rosalee catches everyone up to speed. She says the Secundum Naturae Ordinem Wesen, a society that opposes inter-Wesen marriage, is likely behind the attack and admits they're to blame for the cracked window at the Spice Shop, too. When Nick tries to help, Monroe reminds him it's a Wesen problem and that's not Nick's turf anymore but Nick and Juliette counter that it's about to be again.

In another part of Portland, a young couple driving down a highway suddenly careens off the road and crashes into a tree after the car's tires are popped by something. A truck pulls up behind their vehicle and two snakelike Wesen appear. One of them wraps his long tongue around the husband, knocking him unconscious, and drags him from the car. The wife, however, is pinned inside so the Wesen leave her behind.

In Vienna, Adalind, all cleaned up, joins Viktor for a real meal. He questions Adalind about how she and Diana escaped from Vienna originally and she names Kelly Burkhardt as her accomplice. Viktor in turn explains he did have Diana at one point but people pretending to be the Resistance took her from him at the Portland airport. Now, there's no confusion about who is holding Diana.

With Trubel, Monroe, Rosalee, Elizabeth and Nick looking on, Juliette breathes in Elizabeth's potion from the witch's hat and - success! - morphs into Adalind. After everyone else files out, she and Nick make their way to the bedroom. Nick is deeply unsettled by what has to come next but Juliette reminds him that he loves her and she loves him and this is his only chance to have an affair with her blessing. With that, the pair collapses on the bed.

Afterward, Juliette, as Adalind, teases Nick about whether he enjoyed himself. She heads to the bathroom to get a closer look at herself but is struck with uncontrollable pain. Nick finds her doubled over on the floor and brings her to the bed. There, Juliette feels the pain recede and thankfully transforms back into herself.

The next morning, Trubel knocks with trepidation on Nick and Juliette's door. When Nick reveals Adalind is gone and Juliette has returned, a relieved Monroe and Rosalee also pop out. Elation quickly turns to disappointment however when Monroe woges and Nick fails to see it. Luckily, Hank calls with news of a crime and Nick is rescued from standing there awkwardly for much longer.

At the site of the car crash, Nick and Hank speak to the wife before she's taken to the hospital. She says that when the people who took her husband couldn't pull her out, they said they would have to find another. Joined by Deputy Sheriff Farris, Nick and Hank inspect the couple's car and find a piece of wood with nails protruding from it lodged in a tire. Nick says he worked a similar case six years ago, where the same strip of wood was found and a couple also went missing.

While rifling through evidence from the earlier case, Nick remembers that the 13-year old sister of one of the victims was in the car. He tells Hank that she said monsters took her sister and brother-in-law. At that moment, Nick watches a man being dragged from the precinct and sees him... woge? Could his Grimm powers be returning or are his eyes playing tricks on him?

Unsure of what he saw, Nick continues working and pulls a figurine made of scrap metal from the evidence pile. He says it was buried where the car went off the road and if the cases are connected, another could be buried near the site of the crash. When Nick, Hank and Wu scour the area with metal detectors, they find just that. Sheriff Farris arrives and informs them of a third similar case from three years ago. Unsurprisingly, searching that site reveals another figurine.

Retreating to Aunt Marie's trailer, Nick and Hank learn about a Wesen known as the Phansigar. Phansigars use their tongues to choke their victims - always a young couple - into silence and then bury them alive in a ceremony to placate the Hindu goddess Kali. Nick and Hank get a lead when Wu says tests found car paint on the figurines and that a scrapyard near the highway was bought around the time the disappearances started.

Trubel meanwhile has landed in her own Wesen-related mess with Josh showing up at Nick and Juliette's house with Chavez's men stationed outside. After Trubel poked holes in the tires of Chavez's minion assigned to follow her, backup arrived to tow the car away. She and Josh are watching these men when he confides he needs Nick's help. Trubel is then left with the unfortunate task of revealing Nick is not a Grimm anymore.

Speaking of, Nick and Hank visit the Spice Shop to ask Monroe for his help identifying the Phansigars. He refuses to leave Rosalee alone but he changes his mind when Juliette arrives with her gun and Trubel follows soon after. En route to the scrapyard, Nick, Hank and Monroe call Sheriff Farris, who is already there and whose insistent questioning has led the Phansigars to target her as their female victim.

When Nick, Hank and Monroe arrive, the Phansigars are already mid-ceremony. Before he and his friends can come up with a plan of attack, Nick is hit with a jolt of pain. Hank decides to search for Sheriff Farris on his own while Monroe stays with Nick. After finding the sheriff lying in a ditch, Hank calls for Monroe's help but a Phansigar surprises them both, sending Monroe flying into a ditch of his own. Nick is soon found by the Phansigars too and brought before their leader, who woges and readies to choke Nick... but Nick sees him!

There couldn't have been a better time for Nick's powers to return and now that they have, he wastes no time kicking some Wesen butt, just as Juliette instructed him to. Hank and Monroe, who can only hear the battle from their respective ditches, fear the worst but are overjoyed when Nick is revealed as the victor. "How are you?" asks Hank, to which a triumphant Nick replies, "I'm back."

Spreading the good news, Nick and Hank inform Captain Renard at the precinct and Rosalee, Juliette and Trubel at the Spice Shop. Trubel is so overcome with emotion, she hugs Nick forcefully... before admitting there's another problem to attend to. Cut to Nick, Juliette and Trubel arriving home to find a clueless Josh wielding a machete.

While we're wary about what Josh's arrival could mean, next week's episode also marks the return of Nick the Grimm in action - and we can hardly wait.
