Melinda befriends a young girl with a haunted dollhouse, and discovers that the ghosts who inhabit it may be dangerous. After visiting with the girl, Drew, her mother, Lucy, and her teenage cousin, Emma, Melinda discovers that the doll house is an exact replica of the house where Emma grew up, and where her Mother, Father and brothers died in a freak accident. Judging by the clues, Melinda's first believes that Emma's family wanted to live on in the replica of their house, and that they wanted Emma to join them there by whatever means necessary. Melinda then finds out that Lucy had a monetary motive to want her brother and his family dead, and she begins to suspect the danger Emma faces may be coming from Lucy. Her suspicions seem to be correct when she learns that Lucy had been at the victims' house for the first time in years on the night of the accident, and that she had cast a voodoo curse to trap the family of ghosts in the dollhouse after they had started haunting her. However, it turns out that Lucy had thought she'd seen Emma hanging out with the wrong crowd on the night of the accident, and had gone by her brother's house to confirm Emma was missing before alerting him. Lucy's was correct that she had seen Emma, but ironically, by sneaking out for the night Emma had survived the accident that claimed her family. Because the family's ghosts had seen Lucy lurking around the house, they thought she was responsible for their deaths, and began haunting her. Once Melinda is able to help the ghosts communicate with Lucy the truth comes to light, and the family is able to cross over.
