When Kate is called in to mediate a conflict between an insurance company and a man who was hit by a delivery truck, the case seems straightforward enough. But all is not as it seems; the victim, Richard, has suffered no permanent damage from the accident, but he is not the man he used to be. And Marsha, his wife, feels that though Richard seems to have made a full recovery, the husband she knew and loved is dead.
Now, Kate must convince the insurance company that Marsha and Richard have lost more than it seems. And, more importantly, she has to help the couple see that though the accident may have changed their relationship, it didn't destroy their chance for happiness together.
Meanwhile, Kate tries to help Justin solve a problem with a naked neighbor, and Kate and Lauren attempt to track down David Smith, the mystery man mentioned in Teddy's will. When they do find him, David won't talk, but that certainly doesn't stop Kate from trying. For Kate, taking no for an answer is simply not an option.
