Pete and Nick defend a young man on a right to bear arms charge. A young man who lives out in the remote area of the desert with his Gandfather is arrested on a gun running charge. The guns he is carrying have the serial numbers all rubbed off. The family and community he belongs to does not believe in big government, or governmnet oversight at all of any arms. Cody's grandfather has put his grandson in a horrible situation where he was selling guns to criminals, and did not know it. Plus, it turns out that the feds have been running a sting operation for two years on Cody's grandfather, and they want Cody to testify against him. Cody will not do that. Nick and Pete have to convince Cody's grandfather to let the court know that he is actually the one to blame. In doing so, he will turn himself in. Nick gets involved with the defense of a famous bear that attacked someone during his act. The bear was provoked by a drunken audience member. Nick develops a little crush on the bear trainer, who happens to be ADA Cole's sister.
