Nick works to free a single mother of a young girl from jail after she is accused of running down a jogger while on her cell phone. Pete tries to help a man down on his luck when he steals money from his boss in order to pay his mortgage. A young, single mother with a nine year old daughter accidentally runs down a jogger on a barely lit street. The state of Nevada and the relentless DA want to charge her with manslaughter. Nick steps in, even though this is not his case. He sees that a young girl might be sent to foster care if her mother goes to prison for six months. So he takes the girl back to his office and then into the hands of his ex wife to take care of her while he fights the case. In the mean time, the team races against the clock to prove that this really was an accident. In the end they prove it with evidence presented by a runner's app on a cell phone. The cell phone tracked the runner's course, disproving the DA's argument, and proving it to truly be an accident. Pete defends a down on his luck guy who stole from the jewelry store where he worked to cover his mortgage payment, only to pay it back the next day with money won in a bet. However the jewelry story owner discovers the money is gone before he can put it back in the safe. Peter helps him out of the kindness of his heart. He manages to get the DA to drop the charges.
