Intelligence takes on the case of a runaway who claims she was physically abused and psychologically tortured while held captive in a suspect's basement. After Intelligence takes the kidnapper into custody, complications arise when the team finds that the criminal has a "wife" - in actuality, another one of his victims, a woman who was broken down enough mentally to forget her identity. When the assistant state's attorney decides not to prosecute due to the "he said/she said" nature of the case, Voight (Jason Beghe) and the team pick up the kidnapper and take him to a remote location, where the kidnapper comes face to face with his victim and his "wife." The truth comes out and the team determines the location of yet another victim, but they are unable to save this last victim in time.
Meanwhile, Burgess (Marina Squerciati) confides to Lindsay (Sophia Bush) that she has feelings for Roman (Brian Geraghty). Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger), after noticing the development, makes a small scene by calling out the situation while inside the precinct. After Roman apologizes to Burgess in private, she responds by kissing him.
