After breakfast with Olinsky's daughter Lexi (who mentions she may forego college in favor of touring with her new boyfriend, much to her father's chagrin), Lindsay and Olinsky answer a nearby call about a suspicious smell at an empty warehouse. They soon find the source of the smell: six dead women chained to a wall. Olinsky trails a sketchy figure outside the warehouse who, once he spots Olinsky, opens fire and initiates a gunfight. Olinsky takes cover but remains overmatched, and the criminal peels away in a vehicle unscathed. Burgess and Roman soon arrive for backup and find a bleeding child hit by a stray bullet. With an ambulance too far out and the child's life on the line, Roman bucks protocol and transports her himself - after punching fellow officer Deluca, who attempts to prevent Roman from leaving.

Intelligence studies the bodies and notes that they all suffered from dehydration and starvation, with bruises on their faces suggesting a battle over a bottle of water. The father of one of the girls discovers the gruesome scene and admits to paying notorious Chinatown gangster Dennis Lee a handsome sum to ship his daughter over from abroad. Lee's reputation precedes him - his stronghold over the "three gs" (guns, girls and gambling machines) has him on every list available.

As the squad compares leads, Halstead lands a result on the escaped shooter - Lee's nephew - and Intelligence pays him a visit at his hideout, guns loaded. With added pressure from an industrial sewing machine, the criminal divulges that Lee plans to sell a new shipment of guns to the Triads, another gang outfit. Intelligence sets up surveillance at the drop point, but when they intercept the deal, the container supposedly full of guns turns up empty. It's a decoy - Lee played both sides. Voight leverages the Triads' leader's desire for revenge with an ultimatum on Lee's capture: find Lee, and he'll drop all charges.

But that's not enough for Olinsky who takes the state of the case tough. Six years ago, he whiffed on an opportunity to snag Lee and now he feels responsible for the series of murders. He buries himself in personal archives, desperate to locate the name of Lee's longtime mistress. With Voight's help, he finds the mistress' name (Anna Tse), and Mouse's expertise lands Intelligence at her doorstep. They arrest her for aiding and abetting Lee, but she refuses to fold during interrogation. Is this another dead end?

Back at District 21, Platt informs Roman that Deluca filed a formal complaint for aggravated battery, despite the fact that Roman's move saved the wounded girl's life. Roman issues his statement to Fischer, and the commander empathizes with his situation, but nonetheless places him on suspension. When Voight hears about the situation, he calls Deluca into his office and dishes out a not-so-idle threat that leaves Deluca reluctant to pursue his formal complaint any further.

The case finally breaks when Mouse discovers that the Triads' leader withheld knowledge of Lee's whereabouts at a nearby hotel. Intelligence arrives in time to get involved in a three-way shootout among the police, the Triads and Lee. Fittingly, Olinsky puts the bracelets on Lee - but only after he contemplates ending Lee's life himself. Lee offers a confession in exchange for Anna... and Voight rejects it. The lives of those six girls mean more than making a deal with a man on the Most Wanted list.

Later, Lindsay informs Olinsky that she and Mouse took the liberty of researching Lexi's boyfriend - and his record is spotless. The news puts Olinsky's mind at ease, and he invites the boyfriend to sit down with the family for dinner that night. Lexi's reaction spurs a smile from her father, the normally mild-mannered detective still learning to balance his home life with the intensity of his job.
