Severide (Taylor Kinney) has a tryst with Alex (guest star Liza Bennett), the Homeland Security agent he helped with a case. Later, and completely off the record, Alex shares details with him about a dangerous threat in the heart of Chicago - and people who still haven't been caught.

Herrmann (David Eigenberg) testifies against Freddie (guest star Ralph Rodriguez), the man who stabbed him at Molly's. After a heart-to-heart with Freddie's father in prison, Herrmann asks the judge to show leniency - and Freddie's sentence ends up being 18 months of adult intensive probation.

Casey (Jesse Spencer) is asked by a local politician to speak on behalf of a fundraising drive for a disaster shelter. Casey gives an inspiring speech - and more than $50,000 is raised towards keeping the shelter open. Casey is later shocked when the shelter closes and the money disappears, leading him to suspect wrongdoing on the part of the politician.

Boden (Eamonn Walker), having found out about Chili's (Dora Madison) nearly fatal mistake in administering meds, gives her a final warning and urges her to take some time off. On a call where Brett (Kara Killmer) and Chili are attacked by two criminals, Chili is forced to fight off one attacker with a metal baton - a weapon she's not supposed to have. Even though she promises to do better and expresses appreciation for everyone's concern, Chili continues drinking - culminating in a late night drunken escapade at Molly's.

Otis (Yuri Sardarov), now sans his trademark mustache, continues his romantic pursuit of Brett. After Brett informs Otis that she liked him better with the mustache, Otis "fires" Dawson (Monica Raymund) as his love guru. Later, Otis is thrilled when Brett asks him out on a date.
