In the Japan Air Self-Defense Force, rookie pilot Hisone is a quiet, awkward young woman who feels out of step with her peers. Her life is turned upside down when she is assigned to a secret unit and discovers that the base's top-secret fighter jets are actually ancient dragons, who have chosen her as their pilot. The series follows Hisone as she bonds with her dragon, Masotan, a grumpy but endearing creature who only responds to her. Alongside a quirky cast of fellow pilots and support staff, including the confident F-15 pilot Fuyumi and the stoic commander Liliko, Hisone must learn to navigate the chaos of military life, her own insecurities, and the bizarre reality of riding a flying reptile. This charming and comedic anime blends slice-of-life character moments with whimsical fantasy, exploring themes of self-acceptance, friendship, and finding your place in the world, all while the looming threat of a mysterious global phenomenon keeps the stakes high.
