In a dystopian future where humanity clings to survival within massive mobile fortresses, children are raised in sterile plantations, trained for one purpose alone: to pilot giant mechs known as FRANXX against monstrous creatures called Klaxosaurs. These machines, however, can only be operated by a paired male and female pilot, known as a "Darling," whose synchronization is the key to victory. The story centers on Hiro, a former prodigy who has lost his ability to pilot, and Zero Two, a mysterious, horned girl with a fearsome reputation who is known as a "partner killer." When Zero Two takes an interest in Hiro, their unconventional partnership challenges the rigid, emotionless society that governs their lives.
