In the supernatural horror anime Dark Gathering, a reluctant college student named Keitaro Gentoga finds his life turned upside down when he is coerced into becoming a live-in tutor for a brilliant but deeply troubled young girl named Yayoi Hozuki. Yayoi possesses a unique and terrifying ability: she can see and attract powerful malevolent spirits, a curse that led to her mother being taken by a ghostly entity. Driven by a relentless desire to rescue her mother, Yayoi forces Keitaro, who is haunted by his own paranormal encounter, to become her partner in a dangerous quest. Together with Keitaro’s childhood friend and occult expert Eiko, they form an unlikely team that ventures into some of Japan’s most haunted locations. The series masterfully blends chilling horror with a compelling character-driven story, as Keitaro must use his wits and growing courage to help Yayoi capture increasingly terrifying spirits while confronting the dark secrets of the supernatural world.
