AceShowbiz - Pregnant singer Dido is determined to discover the gender of her baby ahead of the birth - because she doesn't want any surprises in the delivery room. The "Thank You" hitmaker announced last month that she's expecting a son or daughter later this year.

She even had to pull out of a planned performance of her song "If I Rise" at the Oscars, and asked British singer Florence Welch to step in on her behalf. But Dido is adamant she's loving the "calmness" that being pregnant brings her - and she'll be finding out the baby's gender as soon as she can.

She says, "I'm too curious (to wait). It's enough of a surprise on the day... There's a real calmness about (pregnancy), which I think is really nice. Your decisions are sort of made for you. You just have this priority that is unchangeable and I think that's a great calmness that comes from that."
