AceShowbiz - N.O.R.E. is currently facing a lawsuit accusing him of sexually assaulting Carmen Bryan, the mother of rapper Nas' daughter, in an incident that allegedly occurred 27 years ago.

On September 9, 2026, Bryan’s legal team filed a detailed 20-page complaint in New York, as reported by Rolling Stone. The suit claims that in May of 1999, while promoting his album Melvin Flint - Da Hustler, an intoxicated N.O.R.E., whose real name is Victor Santiago, assaulted Bryan at a crowded New York nightclub.

The complaint alleges that despite Bryan’s repeated pleas to stop, N.O.R.E. forcibly committed an act of nonconsensual digital penetration. The situation escalated to the point where other club attendees had to intervene and pull him away from her. Following the incident, Bryan fled the club but was pursued by N.O.R.E., who continued making inappropriate remarks until he recognized her as the mother of Nas' daughter and issued an apology.

According to the lawsuit, N.O.R.E. apologized once more weeks later during a Father’s Day event and a birthday party for Nas’ daughter, acknowledging the incident. Despite the trauma, Bryan remained mostly silent about the alleged assault for years, confiding only in rapper Jay-Z, with whom she had an on-and-off relationship, and requested that he not intervene.

The decision to take legal action came after Cassie Ventura’s 2023 lawsuit against Diddy inspired Bryan to come forward. The suit notes that in March 2026, Bryan informed N.O.R.E. about her intent to sue in hopes of settling the matter privately; however, he denied any knowledge of her.

Bryan’s attorney, Marjorie Mesidor, expressed that no woman consents to assault and that dismissing such claims because a perpetrator allegedly did not recognize the victim undermines women’s basic humanity. The lawsuit aims not only to seek accountability for the lasting emotional trauma and public humiliation Bryan endured but also to confront the broader culture of entitlement that disregards women’s bodily autonomy.

The legal complaint seeks compensatory damages as well as additional compensation for emotional distress and mental anguish. As of this report, N.O.R.E. has not publicly responded to the allegations.

This case adds to a growing number of legal actions within the hip-hop community addressing past abuses and seeking justice for survivors. It remains to be seen how this lawsuit will proceed through the courts.
