AceShowbiz - A new Supernatural spin-off comic titled Supernatural: Wayward Special #1 has been announced, marking the first time in years that brothers Sam and Dean Winchester will be separated and follow different paths due to a mysterious force.
This 48-page one-shot, written by Paulina Ganucheau and illustrated by John Amor, is set to launch a significant new chapter in the Supernatural franchise. The storyline is expected to delve into the period after the TV series’ Season 15 finale, exploring a time when Dean was in Heaven and Sam remained on Earth. The comic is intended to be canon within the established continuity, leading into a larger event planned for later in 2026. Fans can also expect photo variant covers featuring Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki, who portrayed Dean and Sam, respectively, along with a limited-edition mystery blind bag version of the comic.
Supernatural originally aired from 2005 to 2020, spanning 15 seasons as one of the longest-running genre series on television. The show starred Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki as the Winchester brothers hunting supernatural creatures, alongside key cast members like Misha Collins. Dynamite Entertainment has continued the story through a 10-issue comic series launched last year, with the final issue due in August. Meanwhile, Jensen Ackles has expanded his career with roles such as Soldier Boy in The Boys and is developing a prequel spin-off series called The Winchesters, scheduled to premiere this October.
This new comic special is significant as it breaks new narrative ground by separating the Winchester brothers, a dynamic central to the show’s long-running appeal. It offers fans fresh storytelling opportunities within the Supernatural universe and sets the stage for upcoming franchise events, sustaining momentum well beyond the TV series’ conclusion.
