AceShowbiz - The Annecy International Film Festival is partnering with stop-motion studio Laika to present an exclusive exhibition titled "Wildwood: A First Glimpse into a Handmade World." This event celebrates the opening of Annecy's new Cité internationale du cinéma d'animation, a dedicated year-round animation complex.
The exhibition will showcase the creative process and artistic vision behind Laika’s upcoming film Wildwood, offering attendees a unique preview of the movie’s handcrafted universe. Scheduled to run from June 21 through September 27, it will be among the inaugural exhibitions hosted within the festival’s new animation gallery space.
Laika President and CEO Travis Knight, who also directs Wildwood, will be attending the event in Annecy for the first time. Wildwood is described as a darkly magical adventure that follows the journey of a young girl venturing into a perilous hidden forest in order to rescue her brother. The film’s story and its distinctive stop-motion artistry are central highlights of the exhibition.
This collaboration reflects Annecy’s commitment to fostering animation innovation and supporting studios like Laika that push the boundaries of handmade filmmaking. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore the meticulous craftsmanship and imaginative storytelling that define Wildwood, setting the stage for the film’s upcoming release.
