AceShowbiz - Four men accused in the fatal shooting of Jacksonville rapper Julio Foolio are scheduled to appear in court as the case advances.
According to official court documents, Isaiah Chance, Sean Gathright, Davion Murphy, and Rashad Murphy will be present at a Tampa courtroom on April 24, 2024. The defendants face charges including premeditated first-degree murder and tampering with physical evidence related to the shooting.
Prosecutors claim the group orchestrated a planned attack on the rapper, whose real name was Charles Jones, while he was celebrating his 26th birthday in Tampa. Law enforcement reports state that the rapper was targeted outside a hotel near the University of South Florida after publicly sharing his location online.
Julio Foolio was killed in what investigators have described as an “ambush.” The shooting also left three other individuals injured.
During the investigation, Davion Murphy, one of the accused shooters, was reportedly alone in an interrogation room, where he taunted Julio Foolio and claimed responsibility for his role in the murder, according to social media accounts.
A fifth individual, Alicia Andrews, was previously convicted of manslaughter for her involvement. Prosecutors assert that she helped facilitate the events leading up to the shooting.
The four men will be tried together after a judge denied motions for separate trials. If found guilty, each defendant could face the death penalty.
The case has attracted significant attention as prosecutors argue that the killing was connected to rival groups. Defense attorneys have not released any statements ahead of the upcoming hearing.
