AceShowbiz - The X-Files reboot, produced by Ryan Coogler for Hulu, has officially cast its lead agents. Himesh Patel and Danielle Deadwyler, both known for their roles in Station Eleven, will star as the central FBI partners in the upcoming pilot episode of this long-awaited series.
The show’s premise centers on these two highly decorated yet distinctly different agents who are brought together to investigate cases involving unexplained phenomena. According to the official logline, they will form an unlikely bond while working in a previously dormant FBI division dedicated to these mysterious investigations.
Despite the familiar setup, sources close to the project have clarified to Variety that Patel and Deadwyler will portray entirely new characters rather than reimagined versions of the iconic Fox Mulder and Dana Scully. This raises the possibility of an in-universe cameo appearance by original stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson, though Coogler has not confirmed or denied this.
During a Cinespia screening event in October, Coogler described his vision for the reboot as "fucking scary" and revealed that his mother, a devoted fan of The X-Files, has read parts of the script and is highly enthusiastic about it. This endorsement is a promising sign for fans eagerly awaiting the new take on the classic series.
While details about the release date and full cast remain under wraps, Hulu’s fresh iteration of The X-Files aims to bring a chilling and modern perspective to the beloved sci-fi mystery franchise. With Himesh Patel and Danielle Deadwyler leading the charge, viewers can expect a compelling blend of suspense and supernatural intrigue.
