AceShowbiz - The BTS member Jimin expressed heartfelt gratitude to fans who braved chilly weather to attend the group’s first U.S. performance in four years. This special event marked the return of BTS to a New York City stage following their hiatus and new album release.
Following the return with their new album Arirang on Friday, March 20, BTS held an exclusive show on Monday, March 23, at Manhattan’s Pier 17. The event, titled “Spotify x BTS: Swimside,” was an invite-only collaboration between the band and Spotify.
Despite New York City having experienced some warm days earlier, the weather on the day of the performance dropped to the 40s (Fahrenheit) and accompanied by light rain and fog, making the outdoor rooftop venue at Pier 17 an especially cold setting. The location overlooks Manhattan’s Seaport neighborhood and is exposed to the elements, adding to the challenge for attendees.
After the location was announced early on the day of the event, many fans queued outside the venue, hoping to be near the stage. Ultimately, about 1,000 fortunate fans received invitations to attend, enduring the cold and damp conditions to see BTS perform live. The program included a Q&A session hosted by British singer-songwriter Suki Waterhouse and a live set featuring three new BTS tracks.
While the band performed under bright stage lights, they were not immune to the cold weather their fans faced. On Tuesday, March 24, Jimin posted a message on Hybe’s Weverse platform acknowledging the low temperatures and thanking the fans for their dedication in attending despite the discomfort.
“I thought I was too cold during yesterday’s concert, so I was worried,” he wrote, expressing concern for the fans’ experience. He continued with an apology and appreciation: “Thank you so much for waiting for us.” He concluded his message simply with heartfelt thanks: “Thank you ARMY.”
