AceShowbiz - Brilliant Minds is set to return to NBC, airing the remaining six episodes of its second season after a brief hiatus. The episodes will premiere starting Wednesday, May 27, at 8 p.m. ET/PT, marking the show's comeback to the network’s schedule.
The network has not yet announced whether Brilliant Minds will be renewed for a third season, but a decision is expected soon, likely before the show’s return date. Typically, networks reveal renewal and cancellation news ahead of their upfront presentations in mid-May, which means fans could find out the show's future imminently.
Last month, industry reports suggested that Brilliant Minds has the “iffiest future” among NBC’s lineup, especially as the network prepares to dive headfirst into a pilot season this spring. NBC currently has five drama pilots vying for slots in the 2026-2027 season, including a reboot of the classic series “The Rockford Files.”
The latter half of Season 2 of Brilliant Minds will feature notable guest stars. Ed Begley Jr., known for his roles in “Better Call Saul” and “Young Sheldon,” will portray Duke, a family patriarch striving to reconcile with his estranged son while grappling with memory loss.
Anne Archer, an Academy Award nominee recognized for “Fatal Attraction” and TV appearances in “The Dropout,” “Ghost Whisperer,” and “Paper Empire,” joins as Bonnie. She plays a compassionate matriarch confronting the gap between her dreams and reality.
Mamie Gummer will appear as Regan, a psychiatric patient whose troubling episodes isolate her from others at Hudson Oaks but lead to a connection with Wolf. Gummer’s recent credits include “We Were Liars,” with previous roles in “DMZ,” “The Good Wife,” and “True Detective.”
Additionally, Ana Ortiz guest stars as Alyssa, a woman recently released from incarceration who is determined to rebuild her life. Ortiz has appeared in “Goosebumps,” “Love, Victor,” and “Ugly Betty.”
The return of Brilliant Minds with its final six episodes of Season 2 gives viewers a chance to catch up on the drama before NBC’s renewal decisions are finalized. The show will run on Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT starting May 27.
