AceShowbiz - Prime Video is moving forward with its long-anticipated adaptation of the popular video game Life is Strange, officially announcing its first two cast members. After nearly a decade of development and previous stalled attempts, the streaming giant secured the rights in fall 2025, following a deal that fell through with Hulu. The new series stars Maisy Stella as Chloe and Tatum Grace Hopkins as Max, marking the debut of the latter in television.

Maisy Stella is widely recognized for her role as Daphne Conrad on the ABC/CMT drama series Nashville, which ran for five seasons. Beyond television, she has appeared in films such as My Old A**, which earned her a Critics' Choice Movie Award for Best Young Actor or Actress, as well as Standing on the Shoulders of Kitties. Upcoming projects include Poetic License and Flowervale Street. In addition to acting, Stella showcased her musical talents with her sister Lennon Stella as part of the duo Lennon & Maisy during their time on Nashville.

Tatum Grace Hopkins brings a strong stage background to the production, having performed in Broadway shows like The Queen of Versailles and For the Girls. Life is Strange marks her first television role, stepping into the world of streaming drama with this project.

The series is helmed by showrunner and writer Charlie Covell, known for adapting graphic novels to screen, notably the acclaimed British series The End of the F***ing World. Covell also created the Netflix series Kaos and has acting credits in shows including Fortysomething, Midsomer Murders, Law & Order: UK, The Inbetweeners, and Misfits. Alongside Covell, executive producers include Dmitri M. Johnson, Michael Lawrence Goldberg, and Timothy I. Stevenson, working under the Amazon MGM Studios banner.

Life is Strange centers on Max, a photography student who discovers she can manipulate time. The story follows her efforts to save her childhood best friend Chloe, especially after the disappearance of another student sparks a deeper mystery. The narrative promises to explore themes of friendship, secrets, and supernatural intrigue as the two friends unravel the truth behind unfolding events.

The original video game was launched in 2015 and quickly became a hit, selling over one million copies within its first year. Since then, Square Enix expanded the franchise with multiple releases between 2017 and 2024, including Life Is Strange: Before the Storm, The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit, Life Is Strange 2, Life Is Strange: True Colors, and Life Is Strange: Double Exposure.

The upcoming game Life Is Strange: Reunion, scheduled for release on March 26, 2026, is expected to conclude the story arc of Max and Chloe, tying up their journey within the franchise.

The trend of adapting video games into TV series continues to grow, fueled by the success of shows like HBO’s The Last of Us and Prime Video’s own Fallout. Alongside Life is Strange, Prime Video has also recently begun production on a separate game adaptation, the God of War series, signaling a strong commitment to this genre.
