ABC renews 9-1-1 for Season 10 and 9-1-1: Nashville for Season 2. Both hit dramas are Top 10 rated for 2026-27.

AceShowbiz - ABC has officially renewed both 9-1-1 and its spinoff 9-1-1: Nashville for the 2026-27 television season. The long-running 9-1-1 will return for its tenth season, while the newer 9-1-1: Nashville has been picked up for a second season.
These renewals come as no surprise given the strong performance of both series. 9-1-1 and 9-1-1: Nashville both rank in the Top 10 dramas among Adults 18-49 for multi-platform viewing within seven days. Notably, 9-1-1: Nashville stands out as the number one new drama in that key demographic.
Despite their success, there were some considerations behind the renewals, particularly for the Nashville spinoff. 9-1-1 remains one of ABC’s most popular scripted shows, recently achieving its best multi-platform audience numbers since the current season's premiere. However, the series is costly to produce. Now in its ninth year, 9-1-1 films in Los Angeles and features high-profile lead Angela Bassett. The production is known for its elaborate, natural disaster-themed stunts, which add to its budget. The show originally moved from Fox to ABC in part due to these financial factors, as ABC’s sister studio 20th Television produces the franchise. Costs were managed somewhat late in the previous season, especially after the departure of co-lead Peter Krause.
9-1-1: Nashville has experienced a fluctuating journey. After a strong start, ratings dipped, hitting a low point during the fall finale and maintaining lower numbers upon its winter return. The show held just over half of the sizable lead-in audience provided by 9-1-1. In response, the series underwent adjustments and retooling, which have paid off. The January 29 episode scored new series highs in total viewers and Adults 18-49, and the positive momentum has continued, greatly improving its renewal prospects.
The creative team behind these series remains a key factor in their continued success. ABC and 20th Television have expressed strong support for 9-1-1 veteran and 9-1-1: Nashville co-creator, executive producer, and showrunner Rashad Raisani, who recently renewed his overall deal with the studio.
The original 9-1-1 series is created and executive produced by Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk, and Tim Minear, with Minear serving as showrunner. Meanwhile, 9-1-1: Nashville is created and executive produced by Ryan Murphy, Tim Minear, and Rashad Raisani.
With these renewals, ABC continues to invest in the successful and dynamic 9-1-1 franchise, ensuring fans will see more high-stakes drama and compelling storytelling in the upcoming television season.
