AceShowbiz - Jimmy Eat World is set to kick off a vibrant celebration this summer, marking the 25th anniversary of their iconic album, Bleed American.
The beloved alt-rock band, hailing from Mesa, Arizona, will embark on their tour starting June 9 at the stunning Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado. This extensive tour honors their fourth studio album, Bleed American, which was pivotal in catapulting the band into the limelight. The album features 11 tracks and was their first to reach the top 40 on the Billboard 200, including the Billboard Hot 100 top 5 hit, The Middle. To date, Bleed American has sold approximately 1.7 million copies, as reported by Luminate.
Frontman Jim Adkins, who co-founded the band in 1993, shared his thoughts during a recent Zoom interview from his home in Phoenix. He expressed, “It changed our lives. It put us on the map. It gave us a new, broad audience of people that found something in it that they connected with. People have grown up with this record, right alongside us growing up, and I feel it’s important to celebrate it.” He emphasized the significance of acknowledging their appreciation for the fans, despite the commercial success they experienced.
Throughout the tour, Jimmy Eat World plans to perform Bleed American in its entirety; however, the songs may not be presented in their original order. The tour will also feature several support acts, including Sunny Day Real Estate, Rise Against, The Get Up Kids, Thrice, and many more. Notably, the itinerary includes appearances at four Vans Warped Tour stops, three shows in the U.K., and one performance in Mexico City. Their sold-out show on August 15 in Cardiff, Wales, is anticipated to be their largest concert ever in the U.K.
In addition to the anniversary tour, Jimmy Eat World will be part of the Hello Summer Music Festival in Alberta, Canada, and will also appear at the Louder Than Life Festival in Kentucky and Shaky Knees in Atlanta, though they will not perform Bleed American at the latter event.
This summer tour is bound to evoke cherished memories for fans, and Jim Adkins reminisced about the transformative moments the band experienced during that era. Following two albums, Capitol Records parted ways with the band after the release of Clarity in 1999. Adkins reflected on this pivotal moment, affirming that although unexpected, it did not deter the band from pursuing their passion for music.
