AceShowbiz - Jill Zarin has sparked controversy with her recent comments regarding Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl halftime performance. In a now-deleted Instagram video, Zarin expressed her discontent over the show’s lack of representation of "white people," echoing sentiments shared by some political figures.
The former star of The Real Housewives of New York City took to Instagram on February 8 to voice her grievances, labeling the performance as “the worst halftime show ever.” She stated, “It’s 250 years that we’re celebrating right now in the United States and I just don’t think it’s appropriate to have it in Spanish.” Zarin went on to criticize the rapper for what she deemed inappropriate behavior during the performance.
“I didn’t need to see him grabbing his G area. I think it was totally inappropriate,” Zarin lamented. “You’ve got all these young kids watching the Super Bowl and he doesn’t have to be grabbing himself every five seconds. Is he so insecure? Seriously.” Her comments have drawn significant backlash from fans and fellow celebrities alike.
As the rant progressed, Zarin claimed she “didn’t understand” Bad Bunny’s music, as it was performed in Spanish. “To me, it looked like a political statement because there were literally no white people in the entire thing,” she insisted, failing to acknowledge that surprise appearances by Lady Gaga and Alix Earle contributed to the performance.
“I think it was a political statement, and I’m not taking a side one way or the other, I just do. I think it was an ICE thing. I think the NFL sold out and it’s very sad because it’s 75 years. Shame. Shame!” she added, expressing her disappointment with the NFL.
In addition to her remarks about Bad Bunny, Zarin also commented on Lady Gaga’s appearance, stating, “And Lady Gaga got a facelift. I didn’t recognize her. I literally had to Google her face to see who it was. We all couldn’t agree.”
The video was quickly taken down, but not before it caught the attention of fellow Bravo star Hannah Ferrier. The former Below Deck Mediterranean chief stew responded with a witty remark, saying, “Re: Gaga’s face … Now you know how we feel every time a new season of housewives comes on. ?? I thought it was AMAZING and so so happy they made a political statement. As they fucking should! ???”
Zarin, who is set to appear alongside fellow RHONY stars like Luann de Lesseps, Kelly Bensimon, Ramona Singer, and Sonja Morgan in the upcoming E! series titled The Golden Life, was not alone in her criticism of the halftime show. Many viewers shared their thoughts on social media, igniting a heated discussion about cultural representation in entertainment.
The fallout from Zarin’s comments reflects a broader conversation about diversity and inclusion in mainstream media, especially during high-profile events like the Super Bowl. As public figures, their opinions carry weight, often sparking intense debates among fans and followers.
