AceShowbiz - After his feature film debut in Marty Supreme, Tyler, The Creator showcased his incredible visual performance capabilities on the Grammy stage on Sunday night (Feb. 1).
Tyler emerged wearing a striking Chromakopia outfit, complete with a shamrock-green military suit and face prosthetics while performing tracks “Thought I Was Dead” and “Like Him.” For viewers at home, flashes of black-and-white alternated with vibrant color as he danced on stage in front of a “Lot 4 Sale” sign.
The Grammy-winning artist then switched gears, arriving in a sleek red sports car, which matched his cherry leather top and pants, as he transitioned into the Don’t Tap the Glass era. Tyler walked into a gas station, where he encountered a motivational store clerk played by Regina King. “And one more thing: If you ever find yourself going back to them old places, you destroy them or they gonna destroy you,” the Academy Award-winning actress advised, hinting at the performance’s underlying themes.
Embracing an electro-hip-hop vibe, Tyler delivered a standout performance of “Sugar on My Tongue” from Don’t Tap the Glass. Amid the chaos, workers carried his lifeless body from Chromakopia on a stretcher, symbolizing the end of the era represented by his 2024 album.
But that was just the beginning; Tyler lit dynamite and returned to the store to blow it up for good. Emerging with holes in his shirt and smoke rising from his head, he stumbled and collapsed, signifying the conclusion of Don’t Tap the Glass and the closing of two distinct chapters within his celebrated discography.
The “Sticky” rapper has amassed 11 Grammy nominations to date, including six at the 2026 Grammy Awards. He won the award for the first-ever best album cover for Chromakopia and was nominated for album of the year (Chromakopia), best rap song (“Sticky”), best rap performance (“Darling, I”), and best alternative music album for Don’t Tap the Glass.
Chromakopia debuted at the top of the Billboard 200 in late 2024, earning 299,000 total album-equivalent units. Following a creative pivot, Tyler released Don’t Tap the Glass in July, which also reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 197,000 album-equivalent units.
Prior to the 2026 ceremony, Tyler had previously won Grammys in the best rap album category for IGOR in 2020 and Call Me If You Get Lost in 2022.
